'Lots 'n' Lots of Hearts' Cards

Hey everyone .... today i'm going to share a couple of cards that I created using the David Tutera Celebrate 3 Step Card Making System !!  This is such a quick and easy way to make adorable cards for any occasion and these ones have a lovey lovey Valentine's theme to them in honour of the big day just around the corner :))

Step 1 is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" white card base.  I have to admit that I completely skipped Step 2 for this card and went straight to the absolutely adorable Step 3 embellishments :))

LOTS and LOTS of hearts !! The new Step 3 pkgs have several sheets of die cuts, chip shapes and stickers too .... I collected LOTS of hearts in different colors and textures and got to work layering them on top of each other to create this fun card.  Several of the hearts, which are made from Core'dinations Cardstock were adhered flat at the bottom of the heart and then raised using 3D foam at the top to add some dimension !!  Then I trimmed the edges off of a few to keep my edges straight ......

To finish this one off I added an 'i love you' sentiment sticker and some faux stitching with a black journaling pen :))

For my 2nd card I kept with the same color theme but started with an A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2") card base in a pre-embossed silver metallic finish (LOVE these) .....

I adhered the blue cardstock heart outline die cut flat and then raised the other 2 hearts using 3D foam.

Add a sentiment sticker and this card is ready to give to someone you love love love :))

hockey anyone ?!?

Mornin' .... today I am sharing a layout of Alex when he was just learning how to play hockey !!  He was just 6 years old in these pics and so freakin' cute .....

Of course he is my own little hockey star so the star shaped bits from the 'Snapshots' collection by Bella Blvd. worked perfectly.  I love the big chevies paper too and this one was great for a base .....

I punched some stars from one of the patterned papers and added stickers and chip shapes too !!  Quick and easy and the perfect layout to add to his album so he can look back and see where it all began ;))

I hope you have a super day ..... TFL ..... Talk soon.

Christmas is over BUT ......

I know I know - Christmas is over - it's a new year BUT .... I've been going through projects these past few days and have come across some that I didn't share and were too cute not to ;))

These are all pieces from the David Tutera collection.  The kraft and white gift bags are the perfect size for small gifts, gift cards and hostess gifts too !!

The tags are from the 1 2 3 Card Making system  and are great on their own or embossed as i did here with the white one.  I then adhered it to a piece of red Core'dinations cardstock to layer it and match the bow !!

I punched out a few leaves and added a couple of red gems to create this holiday swag and finished it off with a sentiment sticker from the DT123 collection.

For the 'star' tag, I stamped my sentiment in 2 colors onto a punched shape from white Core'dinations cardstock and added a couple of start die cuts from the DT123 Step 3 packs (love these)

Quick, easy and super cute ..... for ANY occasion !!  I know it's January but you can re-create this look for ANY holiday or birthday too :))

I've got a fun hockey layout for you tomorrow so come on back .....

TFL ..... Talk soon.

happy monday

Happy Monday everyone !!  If you are like me you spent the weekend with internet at your fingertips checking out all the news straight from CHA :))

I couldn't fit it in my schedule to go this year but I've had a blast seeing all the pics of booths, friends and fabulous samples using all the new releases ......

Having said that, Valentine's Day is right around the corner and my newly tidy studio (pics to come ;)) has read and pink all over it while I create lots of inspiration for the coming weeks ......

This is a fun 'love' layout I made a while back and never ended up posting it here.  So to start off lots of lovey projects, here is this one for today :))

I used my FAVE spotted Core'dinations cardstock for a base and large photo mat and mixed in some great embellishments from Jillibean Soup, Bella Blvd. and more ......

I hope you have a wonderful start to your week ..... see you soon !!!

'whitewash' skirt anyone ?!?

I don't sew much other than paper and I definitely do NOT use a dress form to create clothes, however I find myself drawn to them and have several in my studio.

I went shopping for a full sized one a few years back and Emma (my then 11 year old) was with me. Once I'd decided on my 'new girl', Emma promptly picked her up and said 'C'mon Anita, let's go home' !!! Anita ?!?! .... not sure where that came from but nonetheless, we brought Anita home and Em quickly 'dressed' her in one of her polka dot skirts and a cute necklace ..... I always wondered why she didn't get a shirt ?!?!

So anyway ..... I have several little mini dress forms in my studio and decided to start 'dressing' them too :))

This girl needed a fun new flouncy skirt so I pulled out some fave Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock and started embossing .....

....... Once I had embossed each piece and lightly sanded off the top I punching heart after heart after heart !!!  After wrapping a red border punched strip at the hem, I began layering one heart after another and tucked a bit of 3D foam under many of the 'ruffles' to help hold them up.  I layered the heart punchies all the way to the top and then added a creamy colored  'belt' :))

A few red 'roses' to embellish her belt and this girl is dressed (well except for her shirt ;)) .... At least she matches Anita now !!!

TFL ..... Talk soon.

Happy 2014 .....

I know that so many of you feel the same way BUT .... where did the year go ?!  For my family it's been a year of incredible change and we are so happy to be in our new/old home ...... and to have had Scott home for Christmas made this long year so worth all the struggles to get here.

We all have plans, goals, dreams and resolutions for the new year ...... I want to do so many things ..... I have so many plans for 2014 and I cant wait to share them day by day with you here !!

Though my posts here will continue to be mostly paper related, I am going to add in a post here and there with my home updates !!  We have LOTS planned for this great house ..... some are big and some are small.  Some we will be hiring out (think electrical ;) ..... but we are pretty excited to try our hands at some of the renos ourselves !!

To start off this exciting year, I have a few pics of before and after of our fireplace.  I have never had a mantle in any of our houses and part of the appeal of this living room for me was this great brick fireplace ... I knew I could make it my own and I'm so excited it was ready in time to decorate for Christmas !!!

Clearly it was NOT my style and in desperate need of an update but I could see the potential.  We quickly took the wood 'mantle' off (it was only held in with 2 screws) and the brick was painted the 2nd day ....

We hired a fabulous carpenter to create the mantle that I've been waiting for ..... He was amazing and took my words and turned them into this great floating shelf above the natural gas fireplace.

I am more of a silver girl, so I bought some high heat spray paint and covered all the gold pieces on the fireplace with black to give it the solid look I wanted.

I compromised with Scott with this TV.  I wanted this room to not have a TV in it, but since we have to develop the basement we needed to have it upstairs for now.  I am happy that the carpenter was able to create a wood panel behind the mantle to hide all the cords.

We are still deciding what we want on either side (i am open to suggestions :)) ..... I considered full built ins, but am re-thinking that a bit ..... I've got time !!!  DEFINITELY not moving any time soon - i LOVE this house :))

Decorating this space for the holidays was so fun.  I have moved and added and taken away decor since the day it was installed.  This is how it was for Christmas but I can already see changes that I will make for next year !!

If you follow my Instagram or Facebook, you will see LOTS of pics of this through the coming year as I change it up for every season, holidays and just because too :))

I hope you all have an amazing New Years Day and can't wait to share 2014 with you .....
